open mic but haven’t taken the first step? Then this workshop is perfect for you! We’ll explore the fundamentals of joke writing, comedic timing, and building your stage presence. Designed as a crash course, it will equip you with the skills and confidence to perform your first 5-minute set at an open mic.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to boost your comedic skills, this class willhelp you take that exciting first step onto the stage!
YOUR INSTRUCTOR:
Laura Ripple is an improviser and stand-up comedian based out of Cortez who has been working stages all over Colorado. You may have seen her performances at the Sunflower Theatre, Durango Arts Center or in the Denver standup scene. She tends to use her humor to fill awkward silences, especially during work meetings. Laura’s comedy involves random conversations with her husband and self-deprecating humor. When Laura is not on stage, she enjoys watching reality TV, hiking with her dog, and starting art projects she has no intention of finishing.
