INTRO TO IMPROV: FIND YOUR FUNNY!
Unwind and find some new skills this fall!
Always wanted to learn improv? Looking to find a way to relax and be more present in your job and your life? Need a little laughter in your life? This is the class for you!
No experience necessary. This 4-week class will introduce you to (or reacquaint you with) the art of improvisational comedy. The secret (shhh) to learning the fundamentals of improv is simple: allow yourself to have fun! We will explore the basic elements of scene work and play, play, play! You must be 18+ for this class.
You will learn some of the basic improv concepts including:
“Yes AND”
Listening (say what?)
Trusting your Authentic Voice
Establishing Presence and Commitment
Teacher BIO:
Sarah Syverson: Sarah studied Improvisation and Sketch Writing at Second City in Chicago. She has taught Improv since 2019 and plays in various improv groups across the region. She has written, produced, and acted in theatre productions for more than 20 years. In 2019 she was the Executive Producer of Purple Fox Conundrum and played the solo lead in Merely Player’s production of Every Brilliant Thing. Sarah is currently the Sunflower Theatre Director and deeply appreciates connecting the dots between community, theatre, and creativity. She is passionate about storytelling, our fallible humanity, and the quirky and unpredictable ways that we are all connected.
