Join us for a lively evening where we’ll be celebrating the young filmmakers living on the Ute Mountain Ute reservation in nearby Towaoc! The highlight of the evening will be the screening of their recent short narrative film “The Basket Lady”, along with the screening of their award-winning film from last year, “The Bear Dance.” Light refreshments will be served!
“The Basket Lady” was filmed this past summer with an all-Ute cast and tells the story of three young women who must contest with a power beyond their own worst nightmares, in this fictional depiction of a traditional Ute legend. Lisha, Lyric, and Riley are three young Ute teens who must heed the warnings of their elders or face the deadly consequences.
