Sand Sheff in Concert!

Description

This will be Sand Sheff’s first show in Cortez in 16 years! Born in Arizona and raised in Oklahoma, Sand also spent five years in Nashville, where Music Row Magazine called him “the very definition of Americana” and three years in Austin, as the opening musical comedy act for the world-famous Esther’s Follies. Besides music, he has worked outdoors most of his life, including many years as a ranchhand and dude-ranch cowboy in Utah.  He has recorded 17 albums of original music, written two musical comedies and published three books-Eclipse Miracle, Real is Good ( Reality Freedom and The Computer Network) and Eclipse Witness ( Supernatural Patterns in the Cosmic Clock) . Currently he lives in Moab, where he leads the alt-bluegrass band, Quicksand Soup. He will be performing at the Sunflower with his wife Sunnie playing bass.

“Like an evening of high-octane cactus juice around a campfire with Gram Parsons, Lyle Lovett and Pink Floyd.” – JC Shepherd -Roots Music Report

“The very definition of Americana”. – Music Row Magazine (Nashville)

“Sand writes infectious, literate songs in the vein of Kris Kristofferson and Steve Earle. His albums include tunes that are instant classics. Sand is gifted enough to be compared with the best.”-Rosie Carter -Hearsay Magazine (Colorado)

“an impressive Americana statement, the influences take turns and seep in from country, folk, bluegrass, rock, old-time music and even jazz…everything is just marvelously good–simple as that”-Johanna J. Bodde, Insurgent Country.net

“Don’t call him retro. In his earthy, idiosyncratic songs, Sheff dodges the conventional wisdom that says old-sounding songs can’t incorporate up-to-the-date subject matter….his musical tall tales tend to get the most attention, but his more pensive songs depict the timeless pull between city and country living from both sides.”  -Nashville Scene
