A benefit for Cedar Mesa Perishables Project
Photographer and story teller Eric Mindling will present Living Threads: A Portrait of Cultural Diversity, Roots and Belonging Told through Cloth, based on his Living Threads Project, an ambitious two-year photo-documentary of the traditional dressways of Oaxaca, Mexico, and the people who continue to wear the clothing of their communities. Eric shares stories and photographs to illustrate the quiet power of connection to place and community and contrasts them with his own reflections about our modern existence. Published in Eric’s award-winning book, Oaxaca Stories in Cloth, these images are a visual symphony, a love letter to a people and place. A selection of images can be viewed at www.ericmindling.com/livingthreads. Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase.
Eric Mindling has lived in Oaxaca, Mexico since 1992, working with traditional artisans, writing articles and books about pottery and textiles, running a cultural tour company, and taking photographs that share the strength of these people and their ways.
Tickets are $20 in advance and at the door, with proceeds to benefit the Cedar Mesa Perishables Project. The cost is tax-deductible.
